The member of parliament for Kyadondo East Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda has asked fellow MPs to reject the new demand for Mabira forest give away to Mehta for sugar cane growing and industrial establishment in the forest.

Hon Ssemuju says  the issues of Mabira should not be decided by the NRM party only because Mabira forest is a national resource.

Speaking to journalists at parliament Ssemuju said that it’s wrong for the president to think that without cutting Mabira the country cannot promote industrialization .Ssemuju stated that the president  should instead  answer the peoples demand for his retirement.

Hon Ssemuju also said that Mehta should take Buganda’s land offer in another place  equivalent to that of Mabira forest so as this forest is saved.He further vowed to mobilize other MPs to block the president’s move to give Mabira to Mehta.

Hon Ssemuju has joined Beatrice Anywar and Ken Lukyamuzi to oppose the fresh proposal by president Museveni to give away Mabira forest to an investor Metha.

The president directed NRM members in the retreat at Kyankwanzi to discuss the proposal to give Mabira to investor for sugarcane growing and industrialization.
