Nakasongola district woman MP Margret Komuhangi has accused fisheries enforcement officers of promoting illegal fishing in the area.

Speaking to journalists at parliament on Monday , Komuhangi said that the fisheries officers have been re-selling impounded illegal fishing gears and immature fish.

Hon Komuhangi said that unless something is done to curb corruption among the fisheries officers then illegal fishing will still be a problem.

Nakasongola has a number of landing sites and people there mainly earn their living from selling fish.
