Captain Mike Mukula the jailed former State Health Minister also Soroti Municipality MPt  is seeking to get out of jail ; Mukula’s legal team on Wednesday filed a notice of appeal against his 4-year jail term.

One of his lawyers, Mr. Fred Muwema says they also have instructions to review the law regarding loss of the parliamentary seat upon conviction of a  legislator so that we can take appropriate  action.

The jailed Teso MP  is also reported to be on hunger strike following the decision by prison authorities to force him eat food provided at the prison.He has vowed not to eat any food at the prison until they carry food for him from his own home.

Meanwhile  protest  against Mike Mukula’s  four year jail sentence have  continued in Teso region with demonstrators condemning   the selective justice which was portrayed in the GAVI scandal case.

Mukula was admitted to ward B1 of Murchison Bay Prison, Luzira but did not get VIP treatment, he was allocated a cubicle, which he shares with two other inmates. He was also allocated a prison number – MBP 148/2013 – and a yellow uniform.

The Anti Corruption Court sentenced Mukula to four years in jail for embezzling up to Ushs 210m of the GAVI Global Fund.
