Captain Mike Mukula, the former junior minister of health has been sentenced to four years in Jail over the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI) funds.
The Anti-Corruption Court on Friday accused Mukula of embezzling sh253m from the GAVI account and sent him to Luzira.
Mukula was found guilty of the charges despite claiming he returned sh210m to the Central Bank while the remaining money, sh54m he claimed was asked for by the First Lady, Janet Museveni and her secretary, Margaret Karabo signed for the money which she received.
Chief Magistrate Irene Akankwasa sentenced Mukula after prosecution proved that Mukula received the money.
In July last year, court ruled that Mukula has only accounted for Shs53 million out of the Shs263 million he received for the vaccination project.
