First lady Michelle Obama’s sense of fashion and style was at its epitome Monday during the inauguration ceremony and ball thereafter.

Michelle arrived at the Inauguration Day ceremonies wearing a blue checked coat by Thom Browne and paired it up with a collarless fit-and-flare coat with J. Crew shoes. This was made perfect by Michelle’s new hairstyle which was first debuted. Her daughters wore coordinated colors of lavender and purple. Malia had a purple J. Crew coat with contrasting violet tights while Sasha wore a Kate Spade lavender coat also with coordinating colored tights and a statement necklace.
Michelle’s Thom Browne’s coat and dress were both made of silk jacquard based on a necktie fabric, custom-made for the First Lady.Her necklace was by Cathy Waterman and according to a White House official, she was also wearing a Reed Krakoff cardigan underneath the Thom Browne coat and atop her Thom Browne dress.
For in inauguration ball, the first lady wowed in a ruby-colored chiffon and velvet dress by Jason Wu. She paired the dress with a handmade diamond embellished ring by jewelry Kimberly McDonald, and shoesby Jimmy Choo. “I can’t believe it. It’s crazy,” said Wu, reached at his Manhattan studio. “To have done it once was already the experience of my life. To have a second time is tremendous.”
President Barack Obama wore a white tie with his tuxedo.
