A man, described by most as calm and law-abiding by residents cut open his wife’s womb to prove if the child she was carrying was really his.
The man, identified as Joseph, 27, killed his wife, Justine, 27, in Mubende district just a few hours after New Years. The police in Mubende district got shocked when the usually calm Joseph walked up to the police station and confessed to his crime and asked to be imprisoned.

Joseph narrated the events that led to his action saying he had earlier on suspected his wife was cheating on him but never got to the bottom of the matter. The mother to his four children on Tuesday asked to be given a chance to go a nearby bar to get a beer. He accepted her request and remained home to take care of the children.
Later on, Joseph said he went to look for her in the bar which she had asked to go to but did not find her there; he was told she had gone to another bar. Incidentally, Joseph suspected that his wife was cheating on him with the owner of the bar she had instead gone to; he went back home and waited for her to go back home.
Upon reaching home, Joseph asked his wife where she had been but instead started quarreling and went to bed to sleep. In anger, Joseph went, withdrew the panga, cut off his wife’s head first and put it aside, got a knife and cut open her womb to check if the child was indeed his.
After the crime, Joseph walked to the police station, confessed to his crime and asked to be jailed. It is not clear if he realized the child was his or not, it is also not clear if the child survived or not but police as put him in custody.
Justin was 8 months pregnant.
