Kampala City  Mayor,Elias Lukwago on Monday  shocked MPs seating on local government and public service committee when he told them that the director in charge of community development in KCCA earns more salary than him.

Appearing before the committee chaired by Kalungu district woman MP, Florence Kintu, Mr.Lukwago said that the KCCA executive director Jennifer Musisi made her assistant and community development director to be paid more than him.

He said that he only earns 16million shillings compared to the director community development in KCCA who earns 22million shillings and the assistant to the executive director who pockets 20millions a month.

The MPs said that it is  unfair for KCCA director to undermine the lord mayor who was elected by the people.

“Jennifer Musisi’s assistant can not earn more than the Lord Mayor .We need to look into the salary scale of KCCA and restructure it”  the MPs resolved after the hot session

The Mayor and division councilors were appearing before the local government and public service committee after they were summoned last week.

Some MPs said that it is also shocking that KCCA director assistant earns better than some MPs.

Meanwhile MPs seating on the committee want to meet president Museveni over the KCCA matters.They want him to resolve the power clashes between the Lord Mayor and the Executive Director.

“Since president Museveni is the one who appointed Musisi as KCCA director we should meet him in presence of Lukwago and Jennifer Musisi to forge solution to the KCCA”said one of the committee members.
