Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has said that he is going to sue the Ugandan Police for distracting him from performing his mayoral duties.Mayor Lukwago made the remarks after his release .He was arrested on Saturday as he was participating in the monthly city clean up exercise also known as ‘Kampala Yange ‘ from where he was planning to proceed to to a rally organised by the For God and My Country pressure group in Nakivubo.

The mayor added that he is going to instruct his lawyers to get a legal action against police .”I want to get a restraining order from police ,I want to get a restraining order against Kayihura.” He said

Police  summoned the mayor but he vowed not to respond to the summons arguing that he has no time for police apart from his mayoral duties.

In response ,the Deputy Police Spokesperson Vicent Ssekate stated  over the weekend that the mayor was summoned  to explain his involvement in illegal assemblies organized by the illegal pressure group,4GC.

Former Forum for Democratic Change President, Dr Kizza Besigye and Mayor Erias Lukwago were Saturday morning arrested and detained at Kiira police station and Kira Road Police station respectively.
