Authorities in Kiryandongo have decided to pass a by-law in which they imposed a ban on herdsmen from grazing their cattle along roads.

According the by-law that was passed yesterday; any herd man who violates the law will have to pay a fine of 10,000 shillings per cow and would be liable to 3 months imprisonment.

Nestorian Onencan, the LC3 chairperson for Mutunda sub-county who was one of the committee who sat to pass the by-law said that they realized that there were a lot of cows that were inconveniencing drivers along the Kiryandongo highway.

He also noted that some of the cattle were destroying crops in the garden.

They also ban cattle from crossing the road 30 Minutes after it has rained saying that it damages the road.

The herdsman in Kakwokwo parish Mutunda sub-county did not like the bye law saying that it has restricted their free grazing areas
