Principal Accountant, Geoffrey Kazinda today failed to appear in court for the trial which was set to begin today at the Anti-Corruption court.
A letter from a doctor at Luzira Murchison Bed hospital gave a letter to Judge David Wangutusi through a Luzira prison officer saying that Kazainda was not in a fit state to appear in court today.
Kazinda faces charges of abuse of office, forgery and making document without authority. He is being represented by city lawyer, MacDosman Kabega. In addition to these charges, Kazinda faces separate charges of embezzlement, false accounting and conspiracy to commit a felon jointly with a number of other officials he worked with in the OPM. Hearing of this is slated to start on January 28, 2013.
Judge Wangutusi has summoned the doctor who wrote the letter excusing Kazinda from appearing in court to explain why he allowed Kazinda not to appear in court even though his condition was not as bad.
