Andrew ‘Desh’ Kananura is going to appear in court today over charges of murder.
Kananura, who denied the charges is accused alongside Cyrus Maganda, 29, Samuel Muzulewa, 26, and Jacob Onyango, 40, for allegedly beating to death Badru Kateregga, who was a bar attendant at the latter’s bar, Panamera Bar. They will appear before the City Hall Grade One Magistrate.
Kananura was arrested last week, Thursday at Entebbe International Airport as he arrived into the country from the United Kingdom.
Last week, the Grade One Magistrate, Ms. Harriet Hatanga, remanded Mr Kananura’s co-accused to today, saying she could not proceed because one of the suspects was still on the run. “You will still be remanded further until January 21, since your co-accused is still on the run,” Ms Hatanga said.
Over the weekend, Mr. Kananura was taken back to the crime scene at Panamera Bar to help detectives reconstruct the scene of crime. He also recorded a statement which will be attached to the case file and presented to the Director of Public Prosecutions to give his advice before the suspect is taken to court.
