The speaker of parliament has reassured Ugandans that the Parliament of Uganda remains committed to championing the doctrine of the separation of powers and of the Rule of Law.
According to the document from speaker’s office supplied to the media, speaker Kadaga said that the public should recall that in the past, where petitions which fulfill the requirements and conditions of the Constitution and Rules of Procedure have been presented to the Speaker, and the House has been recalled.
She however said that there is an opportunity for the interested Members of Parliament to raise the issues in the petition for debate in Parliament when it reconvenes next month.
In the document supplied speaker Kadaga added that the petitioner’s signatures fell short after the withdrawals of some signatures which made her not recall Parliament.
Additionally the Speaker committed her self to make a detailed statement on this matter, when the House resumes business.
