The judicial sector has today marked the opening of the new law year where the sector will make insights into the new year for service delivery to the nation.
Speaking at a function to mark the new year in Kampala today, Chief Justice, Benjamin Odoki assured the public that the rule of law still exists and is in operation in the country however reminded the public about the complexity in journeys towards achieving justice in law.
The chief justices also condemned the acts of mob justice that are increasing among Ugandans.
Meanwhile the justice and constitutional affairs minister, Kahinda Otafire asked the judiciary to promote people’s rights through provision of justice despite the poor working conditions the sector faces currently.
In a related development, the attorney general, Peter Nyombi noted that he will be tabling the judicial administrative bill before parliament that seeks to address structures, duties among others things.
The attorney general further warned the judiciary of legal engineering saying it contributes to case back log.
