Isabel dos Santos is Africa’s first female billionaire. Isabel is the oldest daughter of Angolan President, Jose Eduardo dos Santos.
She attained her riches by buying shares in a bank and a cable TV company in Portugal in addition to owning at least one bank in Angola. She has reached the $1billion mark making her the first African female billionaire.
Isabel took engineering at London’s King’s College, before returning to Angola and opening a restaurant called Miami’s Beach. In Portugal, she owns almost 30% in ZON Multimedia, the country’s last cable network which is worth $385 million share. In addition, she has a seat on the company’s board and owns one-fifth of the publicly traded bank Banco BPI, worth nearly $470 million. It’s also reported she owns stakes in Unitel, a major mobile phone network in Angola, and Angola’s Banco BIC.
At the age of 40, Isabel is now an inspiration to many women who want to be like her. She was ranked by Forbes.
