The Inspector General of Government (IGG), Irene Mulyagonja, has issued a directive stopping Jinja local councilors from collecting revenue from the source of river Nile .
The IGG has ordered Jinja municipal council to stop local councilors from collecting revenue at the Source of River Nile arguing that it it is wrong for councillors to collect revenue on behalf of the municipal council.The directive is contained in a report to the town clerk, David Kyasanku.
The Deputy Town Clerk Jofram Waidhuba told the press yesterday that he has already written termination letters to the councillors who have been collecting the revenue.
The Source of River Nile is a major tourist site and revenue earner for Jinja town,the councilors have been collecting at least 50 millions in gate collections monthly.
