The Anti-Corruption Court will on Monday next week hear the appeal of the jailed former health minister , Mike Mukula.
Mukula through his lawyer Ateenyi Tibaijjuka appealed against his four year jail sentence describing it as unfair. The case will be heard on Monday by High Court judge, David Wangutusi.
On January 18, the lower court at the Anti-Corruption Division of the high court, found Capt. Mukula, guilty of embezzling Shs210 million from the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI) account.
Mukula through his lawyer claims that Chief Magistrate Irene Akankwasa failed to properly evaluate the evidence adduced at the trial and thereby coming to a wrong and biased conclusion that he received and also stole the Shs210 million.
He adds that the trial magistrate failed to admit that the prosecution had departed from the particulars of the offense appearing in the charge sheet.
