Gulu Regional Hospital is faced with the challenge of few medical workers and accommodation for existing staff.
This was revealed by the director of Gulu regional referral hospital, Dr. Nathan Onyachi.
Onyaci says the hospital serves 1.5 million patients from the seven districts in Acholi sub region and that the problem is further worsened by the lack of accommodation for the staff within the hospital premises which leaves many to rent outside the hospital.
Onyaci was speaking during the visit by Sarah Kataike- the State Minister for Health (general duties) to the regional yesterday.
Kataike was accompanied by the commissioner clinical services, head of central public health laboratories, development partners like USAID and TASO.
The state minister promised that the concerns raised by the hospital’s director will be worked on but after discussing with the higher authorities.
