The construction of Gulu Main Market may be delayed because of  the little turn up of casual workers at the site. With this, the project which was expected to take only two years only, may go beyond.

The Construction of Gulu’s  Main Market is being funded by the World Bank under the ministry of  Trade and Commerce.

According to the team from the president’s office who visited the site recently the construction of the market has been slowed because  Dotts services Company  which is  carrying out the construction has failed to get the required number of employees.

T. Umamachesho the manager of Dott Services limited told the press that they require over 100 employees but since they begun the construction, less than 50  people on the site.

Umamachesho also noted that most of the workers they register at the site are not consistence and abscond from duty.

“Some of them drink over night and report to work late with a lot of hangover”, Umamachesho explained.

If completed, the market will accommodate over 4,000 vendors.
