The former principal accountant in the Office of the Prime Minister Geoffrey Kazinda has been diagnosed with  goiter and diabetes.

Kazinda was rushed to Mulago Hospital where he underwent a medical examination by an independent health team including doctors from Butabika mental hospital.

After the examination ,Mulago hospital spokesperson Enock Kusasira revealed that Kazinda has goiter and diabetes.Kazinda was supposed to appear before the Anti-Corruption Court on  Monday this week but Uganda Prison’s Doctor ,Alex Kakoraki told court that Kazinda was too sick to appear before court.

Kazinda is now suffering from high blood pressure,diabetes and goitre.The Anti-Corruption Court has suspended  his trial to January 29th ,2012.Luzira Prisons spokesperson Frank Baine on Tuesday Kazinda confirmed that Kazinda is too sick to appear before court but will appear on 29 when he gets better.

Kazinda is being tried at the Anti -Corruption Court over the  disappearance of funds in the  Office of  the Prime Minister .It is  alleged that Kazinda, between January 2012 and July 2012, with intent to deceive, forged the signature of Bigirimana, claiming that it was signed by him.

Prosecution further alleges  that Kazinda with intent to defraud or deceive made computer-generated letters, serial number 243607 on account of Bigirimana, dated February10, 2011, addressed to the director of banking, Bank of Uganda, purporting that it was signed by Bigirimana.A total of 15 witnesses have been lined up to testify against Kazinda.

In a separate charge, which was  to start on January 28, Kazinda and his co-accused Martin Owor, Beatrice Kezabu and Hussein Katumwa, were charged with embezzlement, false accounting and conspiracy to commit a felony.
