The parliamentary Defence and Internal Affairs committee has summoned the Chief of Defence Forces ,Gen .Aronda Nyakairima over his remarks on a Military Coup.Gen.Nyakairima will have to appear at the defense committee of parliament with the Minister of Defence ,Dr.Chrispus Kiyonga.
On Wednesday last week Gen . Nyakairima warned politicians not to take the country back to the past era of political turmoil.Nyakairima said that the possibility of the army taking over Parliament is real. “We can’t allow the country to slip back into chaos”. He said

“I can tell you that no orders have been issued. We are going about our usual business of guarding the country. But I think that the message was well-taken by those to whom it was intended. Stand warned,” said Gen. Aronda Nyakairima.
Gen. Aronda’s comments followed the statement by the Defence minister Dr. Crispus Kiyonga who cautioned MPs to desist from conduct that undermines the public confidence in the legislature and cause the army to intervene and take over government.
The remarks of the two officials heated the media waves in the past week forcing the MPs on the defence committee to summon Gen.Aronda Nyakairima and Dr.Chrispus Kiyonga for questioning.
The committee has ordered its clerk to write to Defence Minister Kiyonga and the Chief of Defence Forces Nyakairima asking them to appear before Parliament. MPs want to know from the security chiefs whether they made the said remarks, what formed the basis of the remarks and whether or not the army is aware that such remarks violate the Constitution.
