The Police in charge of Opit police outpost in Gulu district, Fredrick Banumba have said that they are receiving a number of cases of domestic violence during the harvesting period.
Banumba revealed to the press yesterday that the cases of domestic violence are caused by couples who are selling off their harvest without proper understanding between them .
He explained that the couples sell off their food stuff at giveaway prices after harvest leaving the rest of the family members to languish without food.
Banumba says since the beginning of the harvest season, he has been registering five cases every week.
He also called on the farmers in Gulu district to avoid selling all their harvest saying that they will need it during the planting season when there is no food.
