More three donor countries have asked the Ugandan Government to return their funds over its misuse by government officials.
The three countries are Denmark,Norway and Sweden .They were among other countries which froze their aid to Uganda last year after the scandal involving the misuse of PRDP funds in the Office of the Prime Minister was unveiled .
AFP said Norway is asking for a partial refund of the donation since its aid was paid into a special account that made it easier to identify fraudulent transactions.
AFP quoted Astrid Versto, a spokesperson for the Norwegian minister of international development, as saying. “We have asked to be repaid 23 million Kroner ($4.2m) and we have been promised that we will be refunded,”
The other two countries want their funds in full.In January,Uganda refunded Sh14 Billion to the government of Ireland .The money was part of the Peace Recovery and Development Plan (PRDP) that was allegedly diverted by staff in the OPM.
