The State Prosecutor has been given the case file on musician, Jose Chameleone to see if the state has a case against him over the death of Robert Karamagi who was allegedly killed at his home intentionally.

Police has been considering charging Chameleone with the murder of Karamagi who his father said had a mental problem but could not set himself alight like those at the house of Chameleone in Seguku claimed. Witnesses said they saw people in Chameleone’s home torture Karamagi before pouring the petrol on and setting him on fire. Karamagi later on died at Mulago hospital as a result of the injuries he had sustained during the fire.

Karamagi’s father, Maj. Bendict Kyamanywa said Chameleon, his wife, Daniella Atim Mayanja and all the people gave statements to police and that the file has been forwarded to Richard Buteera (DPP) and the State Prosecutor to look at the file. The file in question called Death Enquire File-DEF has details on Karamagi’s death among others. “It has been hard to conclude because it was just hearsay; people were saying that Karamagi was killed and we just arrested without thorough investigation. We sent the file to get advise us on how to proceed,” one of the investigators said.

The file was sent to the State prosecutor last week and it is being worked upon.
