A carpenter in Argentina survived a nail which was soon entering his heart when a colleague fired the bolt on his chest.
An X-ray image released the hospital in Buenos Aires where he was taken after the accident shows the deadly nail piercing his heart chamber,Metro reported .The names of the 19-year-old survivor were not revealed by press time .
He underwent two hours of ‘major surgery’ at El Cruce Néstor Kirchner Hospital.
Doctors decided not to remove the nail immediately as it was ‘acting as a stopper and preventing a haemorrhage’, said the hospital’s executive director Arnaldo Medina.
Dr. Marcelo Nahín warned about the dangers of nail guns saying: ‘They are powerful and easy to operate as they increase productivity, but they are also responsible for around 37,000 visits each year to emergency rooms in hospitals in the U.S.’
