Buliisa district officials say the  measles  outbreak which is currently in Hoima district may have  spread to their district .The district health official ,Robert Mugabe on Thursday said that  more than 20 cases have been registered with symptoms similar to measles.

Mugabe said that the suspected cases are being monitored in Butiaba and Bugwera.Currently over 40 cases are been handled in Hoima district.Earlier on Thursday ,the ministry of Health sent a team of experts to monitor the outbreak in the  district .

The ministry said after an assessment  to carry out an immunization exercise .

Measles

Measles  is an infection of the respiratory system caused by a virus, specifically a paramyxovirus of the genus Morbillivirus. Morbilliviruses, like other paramyxoviruses, are enveloped, single-stranded, negative-sense RNA viruses. Symptoms include fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes and a generalized, maculopapular, erythematous rash.
