A 17-year-old girl in Mubende district has gave birth to a baby with two heads on Sunday.
The baby was given birth to at Mubende Regional Referral Hospital by a girl who is a resident of Kabateeza village, Butawata parish in Kigando Sub-county, Mubende District. Apart from the two heads, the baby is good health and fine.
Medical workers say the baby cannot be fed because the baby has two heads but the nose and mouth are in the same position. Doctors referred the baby and her mother to Mulago hospital for further examination.
According to the acting head of the Neurosurgical unit at Mulago, Dr Michael Muhumuza, about seven to 10 babies are born every week with this condition at the national referral hospital alone but depending on the severity of the abnormality, babies usually suffer life-long irreversible disability like paralysis of the legs, among others.
