Residents in Atiak sub County, Amuru district are said to have confiscated and beaten two Italian farmers from Kenya who were taken to Atiak sub County by Norbert Mao.
The incidence happened over the week end in Amuru district.The police in charge of crimes in Atiak sub County in Amuru district Andrew Abal told the press that the residents ordered Norbert Mao and the two Italian farmers from Kenya to remove their shoes, shirt and leave Amuru district.
Abal explained that they residents became suspicious when they saw Norbert Mao moving in their lands in Gunya village in Pacilu parish in Atiak sub County.
He said that many residents accused Mao of allegedly selling off their lands to Investors without their knowledge.
The Atiak police officer identified the Italian farmers from Kenya as Gilfred and Mozio.
Abal said the incident was recorded under the case file number CD15/24/01/2013 at Atiak Police station in Amuru district.
Some of the residents told the press in Amuru that they were told that Mao had camped in their village for over three days that is when they quickly armed themselves and attacked him together with the two Italian Farmers.
They also admitted that in the brawl, they detained a number of properties including shoes and shirts belonging to Mao and the two Italians.
James Omona, one of the residents who kept the belongings gave them to Gilbert Olanya, the Kilak County MP.
Attempts to contact Mao over the matter were fruitless but on Saturday while on a local radio station he denied being beaten but called on the residents to return the belongings they had taken from him.
