Local residents in Koyo village Nwoya district are digging up a grave to bury a 61 year old man, who has been killed by a Buffalo after he reportedly went to hunt for wild animals in Murchison Falls National Game Park.

The 61 year old man was only identified by the LC 3 Chairman of Koyo village as Acuma.

Francis Lakony Okumu said that Acuma on several occasion has been illegally hunting in the Murchison National Game park and came back without any problem.

However Lakony noted that  last week end, Acuma went in the park but it was a sad story when he found the trapped Buffalo.

“The Buffalo that was lying down, rose up and started jumping until it broke loose from the wire and later jumped on Acuma knocking him into a comma”,Lakony explained.

Acuma was carried back home by colleagues he had gone with to Anaka Hospital where he died on arrival.

The Chairman has warned people against entering the Park to hunt for wild animals because it is illegal and dangerous and instead advised them to engage in farming.
