A 16 year old boy of Coo-pe-lwo village in Kiryandongo district has been arrested by the police for allegedly defiling a 15 year old girl.

Ismail Picho, the Chairman LCI of Coo-Pe-lwo confirmed the incidence saying that the 16 year old boy sat his PLE Exams last year.

Picho said that they were arrested on Wednesday evening after the relatives of the girl reported the matter.

He also noted that there was a drama when both of the parents claimed that both of the girl and the boy were below 18 years and that they should be forgiven.

The 16 year old boy is under the police custody at Bweyale police station.

Jonson Kilama the Northern Police spokesperson when contacted on the matter said that  the vice is common during the holidays.

He attributes it to lack of advice and counseling from parents.
