Actor Steve Franken of ‘The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis’ has died at the age of 80 in his home of Los Angeles.

His family confirmed Franken’s death saying he died from cancer in his home in Los Angeles at the age of 80. Franken died on the 24th August 2012 according to his wife, Jean.

Franken is known for his film credits such as Bewitched; Love, American Style; the television show Mission: Impossible; and Seinfeld. On film, Franken appeared in The Party, The Fiendish Plot of Dr. Fu Manchu, Which Way to the Front?, Hardly Working, The Missouri Breaks, and The Americanization of Emily. He had a 50 year movie career.

The New York born actor survived by wife and their daughter Anne; two daughters from his marriage to ex-wife Julia Carter — Emily Franken and Abigail Glass — and two grandchildren, according to the Times.
