Kiprotich Stephen a Ugandan marathon runner has won a gold medal for Uganda at the London Olympics 2012.Kiprotich Uganda team completed the men’s marathon of 42 kilometers on Sunday in 2:8:1 beating Kenya’s  Mutai who completed the race in 2:8:27 .

Wilson Kiprotich  also from Kenya came third by completing the race in 2:8:37 . Stephen Kiprotich 23, secured for Uganda a gold medal after a long spell of 42 years since John Aki bua won a gold medal in 1972.

Uganda’s hopefuls, Moses Kipsiro and Dorcus Nzikuru were unsuccessful; none of them got any medal disappointing Uganda. Kiprotich turned the aura upside down when he got the golden medal at the real end of Olympics 2012.

Who is Stephen Kiprotich?

Kiprotich was born in Kapchorwa in 1989.He discovered his talent way back in primary school.Kiprotich is a prison warden at Uganda prisons.
