Good things are happenign to Kiprotich Stephen after winning the only gold medal for Uganda this year and the second one in the country since Akii Bua at the London Olympics 2012.

A former Prisons’ Warden, 23-year-old Kiprotich went to the Olympics and managed to scoop the second gold medal at the Olympics since Akii Bua and the only gold medal this year at the London Olympics.

The win has opened doors for Kiprotich and his family, he is married and has children. Now, he has been promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Prisons and life will never be the same.

A Kapchorwa born, Kiprotich  is now the Assistant Superintendent at the Uganda Prison Services as part of tokens of thanks for what he did for the country.

Uganda Prisons service spokesperson Mt. Frank Baine has said that Kiprotich who currently works as a warder with prison services has been promoted to a higher rank.

Before being promoted, Mt. Frank said, “We are looking of ways of rewarding him and off course promotion is one of them, he is still at the junior ranks but he has the capacity of going up to the Commissioner General level,” he said.

He described Kiprotich as a determined, very simple but hardworking young man who can perform well at any level he is promoted to.
