Robin Van Persie has left Arsenal for Manchester United.  Former Arsenal striker joins Manchester United at a transfer fee of 23 million pounds ($35.8m).

This comes after  he spent the past six weeks agitating for a move away from Arsenal and informing Arsene Wenger last week that he wished to join Man United.

Robin van Persie Joins Manchester United

Arsène Wenger has reluctantly agreed to sell Robin van Persie to Manchester United for £23m. Arsenal confirmed on Wednesday that a deal had been tied up between the clubs and that the striker will travel to Manchester for a medical and to agree personal terms.

“Arsenal Football Club can confirm that terms have been agreed for the transfer of Robin van Persie to Manchester United.

Van Persie will travel to Manchester on Thursday in order to agree personal terms and complete a medical ahead of the proposed move,” Arsenal posted on its website.

This was confirmed after Man United also posted on its website that; “Manchester United is pleased to announce it has reached agreement with Arsenal Football Club for the transfer of Robin Van Persie.

The deal is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms. A further announcement will be made in due course.”

Van Persie is to fly to Manchester today, having been with the Holland squad for a friendly match in Belgium overnight.

Van Persie is currently the top goal-scorer in the Premier League with 30 goals, and has been Arsenal’s 8th all-time top scorer with 132 goals.

On 4 July 2012, Van Persie announced that he would not be signing a new contract with Arsenal.

On that Wednesday night he wrote on his website that he has decided not to extend his contract because his goal was to play for Arsenal to revive its long lost glory which has faded away since 2005 but he has failed to improve anything.

He also added that he is not pleased with the management of the club which has failed to do anything to revive the club’s long lost glory.

“I’ve thought long and hard about it, but I have decided not to extend my contract. You guys, the fans, have of course the right to disagree with my view and decision and I will always respect your opinions,” his post read.

Van Persie has played for Arsenal since 2004 and has been with the team for the last eight years.

I am a very strong Asernal supporter and fan from East Africa in Uganda no matter what. Indeed it is so painful for a star like Robin Van persie to leave just like that to join a bitter rival club like Manchester United and the management are not even bother about, what a shame!!!Last year we lost three of our best and key players to yet another rival. It looks to the management of AsernalFC as if the major or core existence for the club is to buy young players at a cheap price, train them and then sell them to any club for more money other than to win trophies to sustain the club`s glory and name so as to attract good players to join. I am ver digusted and disappointed in the management style of Mr Wenger and all his management teams who think for thier fat rewards only other than the going concern and glory of the club. One things which bother me is that whenever Asernal loses a match Wenger is always seen to be so mad for the loss and he himself loses wire by kicking his own bottle of water in the air, a sign of disappointment of under performance by his team and this is the same man who sells away good players who perform well on the pitch without bringing in a good substitute!!!. So now a know that tears which rolls down his face for such loses are that of crocodile!!!. Please Wenger we are tire of waiting for trophiesto come,if that is the end of your ability, please throw down the towel and a better person comes in. Long Live Asernal Football Club Long Live the Spirit of togetherness.
