A man who stole a phone from the Ebola patients ward is suspected to have contracted Ebola .
The 40-year-old man whose name were not disclosed reportedly sneaked into the Ebola isolation ward and snatched a phone from one of the patients on August 14th .
The owner of the phone who died of the deadly virus some days back reported the theft to Kagadi police and the search for the culprit began.
As investigations were on going,the thief developed Ebola like symptoms and ran to Kagadi hospital to seek treatment.When he arrived ,he confessed that he stole the phone from the Ebola patients ward from where he got the infection.
He then handed over the phone estimated to be 60,000 to Kagadi police.Meanwhile the thief who hails from Kyakabugahya LCI in Kagadi Town Council is currently admitted at Kagadi Hospital and his samples have been taken to investigate his condition.
“The suspect is admitted at Kagadi Hospital with clinical signs of Ebola,he is receiving medication. We have obtained samples from him,”Kibaale district Health Officer Dr Dan Kyamanywa said
Meanwhile most of the suspected patients have been discharged.The facility is monitoring a few suspected cases.
