The Minister for Internal Affairs, Hilary Onek has encouraged patriots who have just concluded a training to stand strong to love and protect their country rather than promoting corruption.
Onek was speaking during the pass out of the over 1000 patriots at Sir Samuel Baker in Gulu District on Thursday.
He also urged them to defend their country where corruption has become rampant. He lamented that the country is full of thieves who think that they can steal all the government’s funds for their self-interested needs.
Onek claimed that the construction of Karuma dam has been delayed because the people in charge are corrupt.
“Why should you first think of stealing public funds before doing any job?”, the Minister questioned.
The Eng. Added that, “Iam now urging you to go back to your schools and convey the skills you have got from the Patriotism training to the rest of the people in Uganda so that you can defend and love you country”.
The National Secretariat for the Patriotism club, Lt. Con. Henry Masiko highly praised the participants for the good discipline they exhibited while undergoing the 2 weeks training at both Laroo boarding and Sir Samuel baker Schools in Gulu district.
Lt. Con. Masiko added that the patriotism training which was launched in 2009 by president Museveni is aimed at giving the participants the knowledge of Military science and to re-orient them with the current life among others.
