London Olympics 2012 Gold medal winner, Kiprotich Stephen is the true definition of from grass to grace. Kiprotich is set to dine with President Museveni at the State house upon his arrival in the country tomorrow.
He is going to be taken to an exquisite hotel to rest and freshen up before meeting the President. The name of the hotel was not disclosed for security purposes.
Kiprotich won the 42km/23m race at the Olympics during the closing ceremony on Sunday sending a wave of pride to all Ugandans back home.
Uganda had not yet won any medal at the Olympics this year as all participants kept on failing. Kiprotich’s race was not broadcast and anticipated as other races from renown athletes like Kipsiro and Inzikuru.
His win brought meaning to the phrase ‘save the best for the last’ for his win was legendary. It was the second gold for the country, the first one having been won by Akii Bua 42 years ago.
Kiprotich’s win did not only bring him money, it also brought in fame for him. It was suggested that he be honored while companies around the country are contributing money to facilitate him. He has also been promoted as he was a prison’s warden but was promoted to Assistant Superintendent.
He recently was interviewed at CNN.
