FDC’s Winnie Kizza is set to be sworn in today as Kasese Woman MP elect according to close sources at Parliament.Scores of Winnie Kizza’s supporters are at parliament waiting to witness her swearing in.
FDC’s Winnie Kizza won Kasese By-election with over 97,669 votes beating NRM’s Rehema Muhindo who went away with 59,946 votes and DP’s Rosemary Masika was third with a marginal 1229 votes.
The by-elections were set after court nullified the election of Winnie Kiiza following a petition filed by Rehema Muhindo in which she complained that the elections in which Winnie Kiiza won the seat were characterized by election malpractices.
Rehema Muhindo accepted the defeat and soon after the by-elections she announced that she has quit politics. She claimed that her loss was as a result of gutter politics and it would be better if she quits.
