Police have arrested a man whom has been faking to be a traffic officer to rob unsuspecting road users.

Alex Semwanga, has been wearing a traffic officer s’ uniform  which he says he bought from Owino market.He has been monitoring traffic on Kampala Gayaza road during evening hours.

Upon arrest Semwanga said he faked to be a traffic officer because he wanted to get into contact with Inspector General of Police, Gen Kale Kayihura to inform him that had escaped from detention in a prison in Rwanda where he had been held fugitive.

Semwanga was arrested  in Erisa Zone wearing a uniform which bore the number 46882 and the name ‘Asiimwe’ when he stopped a plain-clothed Police officer who was from church and issued him a complaint and charge sheet.The officer identified him as a conman and he was later arrested.

Kampala North Regional Police Commander, Steven Tanui has said that Semwanga will be charged with impersonation, illegally using government property and terrorism.
