Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has removed 70 street children and took them off the streets onto a rehabilitation home to help them in transforming their lives.

The children who were taken off the streets were taken to Kampiringisa Rehabilitation Home, Mpigi district.

They are mainly from Karamoja and were got from the streets of Kampala road, Jinja road, Entebbe road, Centenary Park among other places around the city.

According to KCA spokesperson, Peter Kaujju, the children litter the city because they do not have where to sleep which was not welcome in the country’s capital. “We are working with the Office of the Prime Minister to ensure that these children are taken to Kampiringisa home, and later we shall reunite them with their families,” Kaujju said.

To prevent them from coming back to the streets, Kaujju said KCCA will be working together with Kampiringisa to work out a way of ensure that children do not escape from their homes to the streets.
