Eleven candidates have been nominated to contest in the forthcoming By-elections for the member of parliament in Usuk County.
According to the district returning officer, Joseph Omona, thirteen people picked nominations but two withdrew from the race and only eleven turned up for nomination.
In a two day exercise among the candidates who were nominated include; Proscovia Oromait the daughter to the Late Micheal Oromait who was the Member of Parliament for the county before his sudden death.
The candidates who withdrew from the race include Mr. Richard Onguruk and Mr. John Mark Okotch both independents. Mr. Onguruk lost in the NRM primaries which were won by Proscovia Oromait and decided to join the race as independent but changed his mind afterwards.
Usuk county fell vacant following the sudden death of Micheal Oromait which occurred in July this year.The by-elections are set for September 12, 2012.
