Ugandan Catholic priest Caesar Mutyaba, 90, was buried on Wednesday 5th at St. Mbaaga’s Seminary Ggaba graveyard.
Kampala Archdiocese, Msgr. Caesar Mutyaba was a former episcopal vicar of Kampala, Kiyinda-Mityana and Ssezzibwa who between 1958-1960 served as assistant Parish priest, Naluggi parish while in 1971, he was a parish priest of Rubaga parish.
The honorary burial was attended by people from different walks of life although it was graced mostly by church heads among of whom being Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala, Fr. Joseph Sserunjogi, the rector of St. Mbaaga Seminary, Auxiliary Bishop of Kampala Archdiocese, Christopher Kakooza and Kampala Archdiocese chancellor, Rev Fr Joseph Kazibwe-Ntuuwa among others.
While speaking at the funeral, Cardinal Wamala said priests in the Catholic church should be able to emulate the late Msgr. who led an exemplary life. “Although he was in a wheel chair, he was dedicated and determined clergy, which all of us we should emulate in our service,” Wamala said.
Pope Benedict XVI promoted Mutyaba to the title of Monsignor in 2008 in appreciation of his service to the church. He was a former episcopal vicar of Kampala, He was a resident of St. Mbaaga Seminary Ggaba for over twenty years, where he was laid to rest.
Mutyaba was ordained a priest in December, 1954 by Bishop Joseph Kiwanuka.
