African Cup of Nations 2013 qualifier draw is to be held today in Johannesburg, South Africa at 8:00pm.

During this draw the team which Uganda Cranes is to play against in the African Cup of Nations scheduled to take place in January 2013 -February 2013 will be chosen today.

A total of 30 teams which qualified for the tournament have been divided into two groups. Each group consists of 15 teams and the groups have been named Pot A and Pot B.

Pot A consists of teams like Algeria, Angola, Mali, Morocco, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Zambia, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Equatorial Guinea,  Nigeria, Sudan and Tunisia.

Pot B Consists of  Uganda, Liberia, Libya, Malawi, Mozambique, Niger, DR Congo, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Botswana, Cape Verde Islands, Central Africa Republic, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and Togo.

Pot C has been put up to decide on which team will host the match first as it is to be home and away. For example, if Uganda is chosen to play against Sudan, Pot C will determine whether Uganda is the first to host Sudan or Sudan is the first to host Uganda.

Uganda has played with some of the teams in pot A. Uganda played with Ghana in 2003 in African cup qualifiers and it was a 1-1 draw.

In 1993 Uganda drew with Nigeria 0-0 and in 2007 Uganda cranes beat Nigeria 2-1 at Namboole stadium.

Tunisia has also played with Uganda cranes and beat Uganda Cranes 0-6 in Tunis.

This year Uganda cranes drew 1-1 with Angola in the world cup qualifiers.

Uganda cranes also drew with Senegal 1-1 also in the world cup qualifiers.

In Pot A Uganda Crane’s most threat is Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Nigeria and Zambia.
