Robin Van Persie’s future with Arsenal has put Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger on tenterhooks. Wenger on Sunday expressed his great desire to retain Robin Van Persie describing him as a “world class” player.
Van Persie’s contract with Arsenal will expire next summer and he says he will not sign a new deal.”He has one year left and is in demand but our desire is to keep him,” said Wenger
Wenger wants Van Persie’s future resolved quickly to avoid a repeat of last summer’s drawn out transfer sagas involving Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas.
Meanwhile Juventus have told Van Persie that they plan to partner him with Liverpool’s Luis Suarez should he join the club.
The Italian champions had a bid for the Arsenal captain turned down by the club, who also rejected an offer from Premier League rivals Manchester United. United’s bid, reportedly 10 million pounds ($15.62 million), fell well short of the London club’s 25 million pound valuation and was dismissed out of hand.
Robi Van Persie 28,scored 41 goals in 53 games for club and country last season and won both the Professional Footballer’s Association and Football Writers’ player of the year awards.
