Seven professors contesting for Makerere University Vice-chancellorship have today appeared for interviews.
The candidates who successfully handed in their applications include Prof. Venansius Baryamureeba, Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba, Prof. Elly Katunguka, Prof. Edward Kirumira, Prof. Ddumba Ssentamu, Prof. Tonny G. Oyana, and Prof. Barnabas Nawangwe.
The above candidates managed to meet the deadline in which they were to submit their applications.
According to the new set guidelines for the Vice- Chancellor seat. Some of the guidelines stipulate that a candidate must at the very least be an associate professor, have “considerable” administrative and management experience, and must be aged between 40 and 60 years.
He/she must have also taught in a reputable university, supervised at least a good number of graduate students and should have the capacity to get university grants. In addition, the vice-chancellor must have international recognition.
