Police have summoned city tycoon Hassan Basajabalaba to come out and answer charges related to acquiring a consent judgement that exempted HABA Group of Companies from paying taxes on the Shs142b government compensation claim.
The company was supposed to pay over Shs900 million to government agencies from the large amount it received as for the loss of control of city markets.
It is however reported that HABA group of companies acquired a an order not to pay any tax of the money that attracted controversy from those who opposed the amount paid that was paid him.
CID Director Grace Akullo says that that HABA directors are wanted to record statements with detectives investigating the matter.“It is true that we have summoned them but they have not appeared. We are looking for them,” Ms Akullo said.
