Golfer, Tiger Woods managed to win the first test for the Olympics as he grappled with Olympic Club and the U.S Open.

Woods managed to win against Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson after he shot a 1-under-par 69 yesterday, Thursday.

“As far as the golf course, it’s just demanding. It does wear on you because there’s no let up,” Woods said.

Tiger Woods is 3 strokes off the lead after Phil and Bubba played themselves off the championships on the first day.

Kyle Terada/US PresswirePhil Mickelson’s 76 leaves him on the outside looking in of the cutline after 18 holes. He’ll get another 18 on Friday to try to make up ground to play the weekend.

Bubba Watson  managed to win the Masters in April but it seems like his luck was off yesterday and he acknowledges it. “I was a little off here and there,” he said. Well, if it was a little, sorry for you, it gave passage way for Woods who took the best shot he got.

“It beat me up,” Watson said of Olympic Club. “It’s beating me by eight right now. … It’s a lot better than I am.”

“I’ve got to wipe this round out,” Mickelson said.

During the exchange with reporters, Bubba managed to reveal that he was not good enough. “I shot 8-over. So not very good,” he said. Commenting about Tiger Woods’ play, he said, “Tiger … that was old Tiger. That was beautiful to watch.”

“I felt very pleased with every facet of my game [Thursday] and I stayed very patient out there,” Woods said. “As I said, I was very pleased how I executed my game.”
