Spain has earned its place in the UEFA Euro 2012 finals after beating Portugal in penalties yesterday.

It will battle it out on the field with the winner of the Italy Vs Germany which is set for today.

During the much heated game, Portugal brought in its A-game putting up a strong defense against Spain ringing the words of Portugal coach, Paulo Bento who said Portugal would attack Spain instead of parking the proverbial bus and try and beat Spain at their own game.

For the first ten minutes, Spain’s defenders were neutralized as Portugal took possession and kept up their defensive discipline. Spain had to play the long ball after Portugal’s front four, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani, Hugo Almeida and Joao Moutinho took up the role of preventing Spain’s defenders.

Portugal’s defense was so much strong that the game ended in 0-0 until the penalties when Spain out shone Portugal with a 4-2 win.

    I think England’s 0-0 result was more exciting. ;D

With Italy winning against Germany, the final should be a majestically thrilling affair … if either want it enough!
