President Paul Kagame has said that United Nations blackmailed Rwanda by saying that it has been propagating war in Democratic Republic of Congo.

Addressing reporters at Rwandan State House yesterday,Kagame said that Rwanda has nothing to do with the war in Democratic Republic of Congo even if there are many Rwandan nationals living in the war torn country.

Kagame said Rwanda is one of those  countries that have expressed their position on DRC,adding that the problems in Congo can only be solved by the Congolese.

He said former Congress for the Defense of the People (CNDP) and Congolese General, Bosco Ntaganda who is spearheading chaos in DRC , is  concern of the DRC, not Rwanda’s, ” whoever wants to ask anything about him should ask the Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) not Kigali.”Kagame said

A recent UN report said some of the rebels fighting in the DRC  said they had been trained in Rwanda under the ploy of joining the army, but were ordered to board a plane to DRC.

The UN report said  some of the mutiny’s heads  are former rebel Tutsi officers who had been linked to Rwanda, whose government is dominated by ethnic Tutsis.

“Our main focus is to continue to work with the DRC and have good relations with the Congolese people so that we solve our problem that remains there – which is FDLR and the genocidaires”.
