Prof. Joseph Stiglitz will deliver the 20th Joseph Mubiru Memorial Lecture at at Speke Resort Munyonyo on July 16,2012 .
The public lecture that is hosted by Bank of Uganda will begin at 2:00 and end at 5:00pm at Victoria Ball Room.
Joseph Eugene Stiglitz, is an American economist and a professor at Columbia University. He is a recipient of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences (2001) and the John Bates Clark Medal (1979). He is also the former Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank.
He is known for his critical view of the management of globalization, free-market economists and some international institutions like the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
Professor Stiglitz’s work has focused on explaining the circumstances in which markets do not work well, and how selective government intervention can improve their performance.
