2012’s Miss Pennsylvania has decided to quit ‘willingly’ from the Miss USA due to reasons which she boldly put on her facebook page.
Sheena Monnin won Miss Pennsylvania 2012 and went ahead to contest in the Miss USA competition but has decided to pull out because according to her, the pageant was fixed with winners ahead of the final competition on Sunday.
According to Sheena’s facebook page, she and other contestants whom she did not name found a list of the Top 5 contestants before the final show and when the names of the people on the list was the one which was read at the competition, she concluded the show was fraudulent.
“I witnessed another contestant who said she saw the list of the Top 5 BEFORE THE SHOW EVER STARTED proceed to call out in order who the Top 5 were before they were announced on stage. After it was indeed the Top 5 I knew the show must be rigged; I decided at that moment to distance myself from an organization who did not allow fair play and whose morals did not match my own.”
The announcement came ahead of the Miss Universe competitions which are due some time this year. On her facebook page, Sheena said “Effective immediately I have voluntarily, completely, and utterly removed myself from the Miss Universe Organization. In good conscience I can no longer be affiliated in any way with an organization I consider to be fraudulent, lacking in morals, inconsistent, and in many ways trashy.”
However, the reports have been denied by the Miss Universe Organization which runs Miss USA. They released a copy of the beauty queen’s resignation letter which said she had resigned because of her dislike of transgender, Jenna Telackova. “I refuse to be part of a pageant system that has so far and so completely removed itself from its foundational principles as to allow and support natural born males to compete in it. This goes against ever (sic) moral fiber of my being,” the letter wrote.
The organization says it is sad that Sheena would want to steal the winner’s popularity. “We are disappointed that [Monnin] would attempt to steal the spotlight form Olivia Culpo of Rhode Island on her well-deserved Miss USA win. The contestant she privately sourced as her reference [of pageant-fixing] has vehemently refuted her most recent claim.”
Olivia Culpo, 20, comes from Rhode Island and won the Miss USA title after voicing her support for transgender beauty queens.
